The Club will have an interesting and perhaps controversial subject as two Club members will dive into the Apocalypse from two compellingly different angles. On one side, Poppy Quinn invites us into his view of the Apocalypse and beliefs that it will be soon. On the other side stands Dr. Ren Lexander who counters with his beliefs that it will never happen. Together, they promise a morning of insight, contrast, and lively reflection on why the Apocalypse continues to capture the human imagination.

Poppy is a retired New York City high school teacher and longtime peace and antinuclear activist. His past activism includes involvement with organizations such as The USA – U.S.S.R. Friendship Society, The Catholic Peace Fellowship, and The Catholic Worker Movement.

Now living in Thailand, Poppy volunteers with blind and disabled students at the Father Ray Foundation in Pattaya. The title of his presentation is Apocalypse Now, which explores endofcycle themes drawn from biblical, Buddhist, Hindu, and contemporary cultural frameworks. The program will also include musical performances by students of the foundation that reflect his presentation’s themes.

Ren Lexander, an Australianborn author and philosopher whose work delves into some of humanity’s oldest and most enduring questions. In his topic Apocalypse Never? He takes a clear-eyed look at centuries of failed endoftheworld predictions and traces how apocalyptic thinking first emerged in human culture.

He holds a PhD specializing in Objectivity and has spent years exploring the intersection of spirituality, psychology, and meaning. After a major business collapse at age 26, he embarked on a transformative personal journey—studying Gnostic spirituality and Jungian Sandplay.

His Amazonpublished works, including The Jesus Code and The Crucifixion Code, examine the symbolic and historical dimensions of Jesus while probing deeper questions about life’s purpose and the human search for truth.
